Version 0.9 (draft) Last updated
Draft — pending legal review. This page is a working draft prepared for review by afreemove.com’s legal counsel. It is not final and will change before launch.
afreemove.com is committed to making our website usable by everyone, including people with disabilities. We want every renter, buyer and partner to be able to find a home, learn about the Free Move and contact a property without barriers.
Our commitment
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA, the standard widely used to measure accessibility under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Accessibility is part of how we design, build and test the site, and we review it as we add new pages and features.
What we do
- Use semantic page structure with one main heading per page, logical headings and landmarks, and a “Skip to main content” link.
- Make menus, filters, forms, galleries, dialogs and map controls usable with a keyboard, with a visible focus indicator.
- Aim for text and interface colors that meet a contrast ratio of at least 4.5:1.
- Provide text alternatives for meaningful images and require alt text for listing cover photos.
- Label every form field, explain what is required, and announce form errors to screen readers.
- Offer every map search result as an accessible list of property cards, so the map is never the only way to find a property.
- Respect reduced-motion settings, support zoom up to 200% and reflow content on small screens.
- Test with automated tools (such as axe) and manually with a keyboard and screen readers.
Compatibility
The site is designed to work with recent versions of Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge and Samsung Internet, and with screen readers including NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver and TalkBack.
Known limitations
- Interactive maps: map tiles and pins from OpenStreetMap or Google Maps can be difficult to use with assistive technology. The same results are always available in the list beside the map.
- Partner content: listing photos, floor plans and documents are supplied by participating properties and realtors and may not always include detailed descriptions. We ask partners to provide alt text and accessible documents.
- Third-party content: embedded YouTube videos, external websites such as Power to Choose, and security checks we may use on forms are provided by third parties and may not fully meet WCAG 2.2 AA.
- Older documents: some PDFs provided by partners may not be fully accessible. Contact us for an accessible version.
We are working to address these limitations. If any of them prevents you from using the site, please let us know and we will help.
